OUR MISSION

The mission of Hope Ministries is to preach the Gospel, plant churches, train leaders, and then aid them in planting, strengthening, and multiplying more churches throughout the Amazon Region of Northern Brazil. Our aim is not to dominate the ministry, but rather to serve as catalysts, promoters, and facilitators to national missionaries and churches.

New believers are established in the local church and instructed in the Word, lead in worship, and guided to Christ-like maturity. We believe that the local church, with Christ as it’s foundation (Mt 16:18), is the only hope for this world. We prepare each believer for ministry in the church and participation in missions, thereby establishing new churches and furthering the Kingdom of God in unreached areas where there is still no gospel witness.

What is hope?

We believe that true hope can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the Light of the World and the Hope of the Nations. While social outreach can serve a purpose in helping communities and in opening doors for preaching the Gospel, the only lasting change happens when hearts are touched and lives are transformed by Jesus Christ and His amazing love and grace. In everything that we do, we hope to lift up Jesus.

What We Do

Our approach to reaching the lost is not much different from what Jesus Himself did: showed compassion towards sinners, healed the sick, inspired hope within the hearts of lost causes. Before we plant a church anywhere, we walk the surrounding area praying for God’s wisdom, talking to families about their needs and praying for them, and distributing used clothing, Bibles and simple medical supplies.

Our focus in church planting is two-fold: establish city churches and river churches. We currently operate a church in the city of Castanhal, Para, Brazil, strategically located within an hour of the river city of Bujaru, and about an hour and a half from a major port city, Belem. Our river ministry operates a church on the Guama River in Bujaru

We establish each church plant with the following directives:

To Celebrate God’s Presence Through Praise & Worship
To Reach the Unreached Through Evangelism & Missions
To Bring New Believers Into a Local Church Through Baptism & Fellowship
To Educate God’s People Through Discipleship & Training
To Demonstrate God’s Love Through Ministry of Service

We are committed to:

The Great Commandment: “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart… soul… and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.” -Matthew 22:36-40

The Great Commission: “Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” -Matthew 28:19-20
